Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Assistant to join our international law firm in the L & D team and play a key role in administering the Firm's training programmes and other initiatives held in our London and international offices. The successful candidate will work towards a Level 3 Learning & Development qualification.

Our core working hours are 09.30 to 17.30. However, there is a need for flexibility to start at 08.30 on days when training events are scheduled to start at 09.00. Our agile working approach gives some flexibility.

This is a fast-paced environment, and the role is always busy, however varied and stimulating.

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

  • L&D Team - Support L&D Team with all training programme-related administration (in-person and virtual events): send invitations, reminders, chase responses and attendance, follow up for feedback, set up training rooms, record attendance, liaise with internal and external trainers and internal support teams, print materials etc.
  • Intranet - Update L&D Intranet pages, promoting and advertising L&D programmes
  • Budgeting - Assist with day-to-day L&D budgeting – process invoices, expenses, and liaise with external providers to onboard and ensure prompt payments, update L&D budget spreadsheet
  • Video Resources - Update our L&D video resources library: record training session when needed, edit recordings, upload onto LMS, update relevant spreadsheet and promote globally
  • New Joiners - Process new joiner information, add people to relevant programmes, and answer general L&D queries
  • L&D Materials - Assist with managing L&D materials: create and update PowerPoint slides with relevant L&D branding, create development programme brochures & promotion materials, document processes
  • Learning Management System - Administer the Learning Management System (LMS):
  • Manage training events and attendance
  • Create and produce reports
  • Continuously look to improve the LMS to improve the user experience by creating smarter ways for the user to access what they need
  • Managing Compliance training
  • Special Projects - Undertake/participate in one off projects, as required, e.g. global mentoring scheme

About you:

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills – able to manage multiple demands, prioritise and adapt to changing needs and deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – articulate, confident and able to engage with all levels of seniority withing the business and externally. Also has an understanding of how to use the right medium to engage
  • Pro-active, self-starter with high energy levels. Someone who is keen and able to find opportunities to streamline processes in order to reduce time spent on administration, and not afraid to challenge status quo
  • Keen eye for detail and completer/finisher

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identification of training/learning needs: Identify and analyse learning needs: establish team and individual capability and learning gaps, in line with organisational performance outcomes and to enable effective evaluation. This may include the needs of the staff impacted by the move to a net carbon zero economy by 2050 and the requirements for a just transition.
  • Identification of training/learning needs: Use sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes i.e. establishing that it really is a learning/training need, before developing L&D solutions.
  • Identification of training/learning needs: Consult with stakeholders to draw out relevant information and provide feedback to inform learning and training needs requirements.
  • Identification of training/learning needs: Use effective analytical skills to seek out and analyse information.
  • Identification of training/learning needs: Take ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate

Training schedule

Alongside the day-to-day activities of this role, the successful applicant will undertake the Level 3 Learning & Development Support Apprenticeship. The successful applicant will achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Learning & Development Practice at the end of the academic course. The academic element of this role will be delivered as a blend of online and remote learning. There will also be an element of ‘off the job training’ to help support the academic needs of this role.

  • You will also develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work within an office environment.
  • This apprenticeship is delivered in the workplace and 6 hours a week of your working time will be dedicated towards training and learning new skills.
  • You will be allocated a tutor who will provide you with personal support and assessment at pre-arranged times.
  • Assessment is through a variety of methods, including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence and professional discussions.
  • All evidence will be logged to your electronic portfolio.

GCSE in:

5 including maths & English (grade 5/ C or above)

A Level in:

Any subject (grade C or above)
