Summary
To assist the business support team with day-to-day finance and administrative operations, gaining hands-on experience while studying towards a recognised finance qualification (AAT). This role will provide exposure to core finance processes such as invoicing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Salary - £9.55- £12.60 per hour depending on age and experience. • Pension scheme – Employers contribution of 7% after 3 months • 26 days holiday + bank holidays +dedicated time each week to complete the apprenticeship

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Day-to-day duties of the finance function
- Regular posting of purchase and sales ledger entries to Xero Accounts including managing incoming queries
- Monthly payrolls
- Maintaining the fixed asset registers
- Month and year end procedures
- Petty cash payments including reconciliation
- Supplier payments
- Establish, maintain and reconcile supplier and customer accounts
- Credit control and chasing debtors
- Raising purchase orders
- Process supplier invoices ensuring goods received prior to payment
- Coding of supplier invoices and obtaining the necessary approvals
- Respond and deal with telephone and email enquiries relevant to the Finance Department
- Maintain spreadsheet records, filing, storage, archiving and security of documents meeting all Data Protection requirements and responsibilities
- Monthly credit card reconciliation
- Ensure the safeguarding of all Company finances via the implementation and adherence of financial policies and procedures
- Reconciliation of Control Accounts
- Reception duties and managing of company email accounts
- Assisting both Business Support and Finance team with other related duties as required

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule
AAT qualification at Level 3
The successful candidate will undertake a full review of their existing skills versus what is required in their new role. First Intuition will then advise on the best apprenticeship programme for them. This will be a structured AAT Apprenticeship programme at Level 3.
A blend of classroom and online training will support the candidate to achieve a well-recognised accountancy qualification which will both help with their new role and potentially lead on to further study.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade Level C/grade 4 and above)
- Maths (grade Level C/grade 5 and above)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
