Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
1. Assist in Vehicle Wrap Installations
o Support lead technicians in applying vinyl wraps to cars, vans, trucks, and other vehicles.
o Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, or removing existing decals as necessary.
2. Surface Preparation
o Ensure all vehicle surfaces are properly cleaned and prepped to allow for optimal vinyl adhesion.
o Mask and tape off areas not to be wrapped.
3. Vinyl Cutting and Trimming
o Assist with measuring, cutting, and weeding vinyl materials using cutting tools or plotters.
o Trim excess vinyl around contours, edges, and tight corners with precision.
4. Application of Graphics and Decals
o Help align and position graphics according to layout specifications.
o Use squeegees, heat guns, and other tools to remove air bubbles and wrinkles.
5. Tool and Material Handling
o Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, materials, and workstations.
o Monitor inventory levels and report low supplies to the supervisor.
6. Learning and Development
o Actively participate in training sessions and seek guidance from experienced installers.
o Study industry best practices, safety procedures, and product information.
7. Quality Control and Finishing
o Inspect finished work for accuracy, air bubbles, or peeling.
o Apply finishing touches such as edge sealing to prolong durability.
8. Customer Interaction Support
o Occasionally assist in vehicle check-in/check-out processes and explain basic aftercare procedures to clients.
9. Adherence to Safety Standards
o Follow all safety protocols while using tools, handling adhesives, and working around vehicles.
o Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during installations.
10. Documentation and Reporting
· Help document completed jobs and keep records of materials used and time spent on projects.

- Protect materials and signs to prevent damage during manufacture, transportation and storage.
- Apply, install or erect signs.
- Check signage materials and products against quality requirements.
- Identify and document risks and hazards in the workplace; advise on and apply control measures.
- Comply with health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Comply with organisational and statutory environmental and sustainability considerations: safe disposal of waste, recycling of materials and efficient use of resources.
- Select, set up, complete pre-checks and operate sign-making machinery, tools and equipment.
- Maintain work area, tools and equipment for example, charge batteries and sharpen blades.
- Use access equipment in the installation process, for example ladders, fixed and mobile platforms.
- Communicate with colleagues and/or stakeholders – verbal, written or electronic; use industry terminology.
- Complete documentation for example job sheets, maintenance records.
- Rectify or report issues.

Location of Training:
Blended Delivery: The training will be a combination of virtual online classes and on-site visits.
Online classes will be held through a virtual platform.
On-site visits will be at Walsall College, located at [insert Walsall College address if needed].
Frequency of Training:
Online classes will be held weekly.
Tutor review visits will be scheduled as required, either remotely or on-site depending on the course structure.
Additional Requirements:
The apprentice must have Maths and English qualifications as stipulated by the employer.
