Summary

The apprentice will provide essential support to the finance team, primarily through data entry and administrative tasks. The role includes processing data in a timely and accurate manner. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience to build skills and knowledge in finance while studying for a recognised qualification.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Processing information accurately to match invoices and receipts so payments are made in a timely manner
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
  • Respond to routine customer and supplier enquiries via phone and email, escalating complex queries as needed
  • Support the team with credit control when required.
  • Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of customer and business information at all times.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
  • Contribute to a positive, cooperative working environment.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

Level 2 Accounts and Finance Assistant
Apprentice is provided through Hartlepool College of Further Education, Stockton Street, Hartlepool, TS24 7NT
The course will involve 1 day, a day release to the college for training.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

English and Maths (grade 5 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
