Solatherm is multidiscipline maintenance company that deliver Facilities Management Building Maintenance to high profile properties for domestic and commercial clients. The expansion of our Building Maintenance business now enables us to initiate our apprenticeship program.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Assisting Senior Engineers:
- Support qualified engineers with installation, servicing, and repair of AC systems
- Shadow engineers to learn industry practices and technical skills
Installation Support:
- Help with positioning and mounting AC units
- Run and secure pipework, ducting, and electrical connections under supervision
- Assist with charging systems with refrigerants (under guidance)
Maintenance Tasks:
- Clean filters, coils, and condensers
- Replace or check belts, fuses, and other consumable parts
- Perform basic preventative maintenance checks
Fault Finding Assistance:
- Observe and assist in diagnosing faults and inefficiencies
- Learn to use diagnostic tools such as gauges, multimeters, and leak detectors
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Follow safe working practices, including use of PPE
- Help ensure compliance with F-Gas and environmental regulations.
Maintain tidy and safe work areas
Tools & Equipment:
- Handle tools, ladders, and equipment safely
- Assist in loading/unloading tools and materials for jobs
- Learn proper use and care of specialist HVAC tools
Documentation & Reporting:
- Record maintenance activities and service logs under supervision
- Report faults, parts used, and job progress to supervisors
Customer Interaction:
- Accompany senior engineers when meeting clients
- Learn how to provide polite and professional communication
Training & Development:
- Attend college or technical training sessions as part of the apprenticeship
- Study AC theory, electrical basics, and refrigeration principles
- Develop practical skills through hands-on learning
- General Support Duties
- Keep the work van stocked and organised
- Assist in site preparation and clean-up
- Carry out other tasks as instructed by senior engineers

- Interpret information from sources such as manufacturer's instructions, drawings, plans, specifications, or previous reports.
- Carry out testing and commissioning of a building services engineering system.
- Carry out decommission of a building services engineering system.
- Undertake planned maintenance activities to building services engineering systems.
- Undertake reactive maintenance activities to building services engineering systems.
- Isolate building service engineering systems.
- Identify and diagnose faults and outline solutions for resolution.
- Replace components.
- Communicate options in writing for repairs, replacements or improvements including the impact of cost, and timescales in writing.
- Handover completed maintenance activities.
- Use information technology and digital systems to monitor and manage the operation of plant and equipment.
- Record or enter information - paper based or electronic.
- Provide internal feedback.
- Communicate verbally with internal and external stakeholders using sector specific terminology.
- Follow equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and policy.
- Refer problems outside of own responsibility or authority to the relevant person.
- Identify, carry out and record industry related continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

Training schedule
The apprenticeship will de delivered as weekly day release across our to sites in Stratford, E15 and Canning Town, E14.

Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4 / C or above)
- Maths (grade 4 / C or above)
