An exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to embark on a career within the Early Years Sector, under the mentorship of an award-winning apprentice employer. The successful candidate will undertake a hands-on learning experience bridging theory and practice, resulting in a full and relevant qualification.

Cathedral View Childcare offers our staff a competitive wage, increasing at regular review points. In addition to this we also run a monthly bonus scheme for all staff as well as organising all expenses paid events.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Our settings are a fantastic place to work, with a focus on progression, a real team spirit and a passion for working with children. The moment your journey as an apprentice begins, you become an employed member of staff paid by the hour, and you have the chance to 'Earn as you Learn' whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
You will work towards gaining a full qualification, attending college 1 day every 2 weeks alongside your work in the setting. The apprenticeship will last a minimum of 18 months, and you will be working towards a Level 3 diploma in Childcare.
Throughout your role you are not alone. Cathedral View offers you full training, support and guidance to help you progress in your career.
Working with children between the ages of 0-5 years, organising activities, being proactive with the help and care carried out within the early years teaching sector.
Assisting and meeting the personal/emotional needs of individual children; changing nappies, feeding, caring and establishing a relationship with children.
To contribute to a high-quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
Help with maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout the nursery, ensuring the setting is well presented each day and safe.
Retaining confidentiality at all times.
Attending team meetings and contributing relevant ideas.

- Recognise when a child or a colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and act to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).
- Apply the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice.
- Teach children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others safety.
- Use a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child.

Training schedule
You will achieve an Early Years qualification via Cambridge Regional College and Cathedral View Childcare. Cathedral View Childcare is committed to offering its team high-quality CPD opportunities, as well as further career progression.

Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 3 or D)
- Maths (grade 3 or D)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
Candidates should be available to work shifts of at least 8 hours, between the hours of 7.30am-6pm in line with the settings rota, which is issued at least 2 weeks in advance. The setting as an all year round provision, closing only for bank holidays and the period in-between Christmas and New Year.

After this apprenticeship
Following qualification, practitioners will be offered the opportunity to select a preferred age group with whom they would like to work. They will continue to build their skills, allowing them to gain the experience required to move into more senior roles and undertake further training if desired. This could include working towards Room Leader status or focusing on supporting children with SEND for example.
