Summary

Welding and workshop Technician Apprentice would be responsible for supporting the fabrication and assembly of aluminium tipper body and waggon bodies under the supervision of experienced welders. The role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in engineering, a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow within a skilled trade.

Wage

£17,926.96 a year

7am-4.30pm working day 7am-3.30pm paid at £7.55ph with 2x10 minutes paid break and 1x 30 min unpaid break 3.30pm-4.30pm (£7.55+1/3) = £10.06 Wage day (Mon to Thu - £70.46) (Friday - £62.91)

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Daily duties include preparing materials.
  • Measuring, cutting of aluminium components using hand tools and machinery.
  • Operate fabrication tools and machines such as saws, grinders, drills, and presses.
  • Setting up, operate, and maintain welding equipment safely and effectively.
  • Interpreting technical drawings.
  • Performing welding tasks in MIG/MAG and TIG welding.
  • Assist with quality checks to ensure accuracy and quality compliance.
  • Perform repairs or rework on welds and aluminium tipper body when required.
  • Support workshop operations including equipment maintenance, stock control.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, site procedures and standard meetings.
