Summary

You will work alongside the mechanical and electrical engineering team and assist in conducting maintenance operations: learn mechanical and electrical engineering skills including both scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs and relevant reports and documentation. You will study for a nationally recognised engineering qualification.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Your day to day work will include:

  • Preventative maintenance tasks to schedule on automated brewing equipment
  • Corrective maintenance tasks on automated brewing equipment
  • Bench fitting
  • Turning
  • PLC, HMI and Scada control system diagnostics and repair
  • Diagnostics and Repair of Motor control circuits
  • Welding to include TIG for stainless steel

Engineering Technician- Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
Apprenticeship Level Advanced (Level 3), 48months

Training to be provided For the full apprenticeship, candidates will complete:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) (601/7179/0)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)- Mechatronics Maintenance Technician (603/3845/3)
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) (603/1353/5)

For the End Point Assessment (EPA) apprentices will undertake a viva interview, a portfolio of evidence and a professional competency assessment (usually a workplace project).

Apprentices are expected to attend college one day per week (term-time only) at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
