Summary

This position will provide someone with a fantastic opportunity to start their finance career and gain real world experience. The successful applicant will be assisting with the daily running of all finance functions, assist with the maintenance of both the Purchase and Sales Ledgers and daily processing of cash books using Sage Line 50.

Wage

£9,815 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Monday to Friday 9.15- 2.45 with 30 mins unpaid lunch. Please note training will be on a Thursday (term time) from 10am to 4pm with 1 hour for lunch so hours will be adjusted accordingly.

Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the apprentice will be:

  • Raising Sales invoices
  • Maintaining the Sales Invoice Tracker
  • Processing Purchase Invoices
  • Processing the cashbooks
  • Processing employee expenses

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN).

You will receive training one day per week which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan. - ACCOUNTANCY

Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your Accounts or Finance Assistant End Point Assessment to gain your AAT Level 2 qualification.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A*-C/ 4-9)
  • Maths (grade A*-C/ 4-9)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

Business (grade A*-C/ 4-9)
