Efficiently managing TMS groups financial operations including streamlining supplier invoices, monitoring ledgers, coordinating payment schedules, implementing finance policies, processing payments and invoices, assisting in credit control, providing assistance with payroll, and handling miscellaneous tasks.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Process draft bills ensuring they have been coded accurately and submit for approval to internal colleagues
  • Maintain the email inboxes for multiple companies and forwarding any queries to other members of staff
  • Raise any adhoc work invoices for our customers
  • On a weekly basis chase for any outstanding payments from our customers
  • Process contract invoicing from one of our entities, and updating the budget to reflect that this has been done
  • Receiving PCN and speeding fines and sending these through to the correct managers and following the process through to completion
  • Reconcile the bank for any incoming payments
  • Each month make payments for any vehicle tax which is due
  • Process pension contributions
  • Assist with any adhoc duties

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Accounts or Finance Assistant
  • Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting
  • Level 2 Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting
  • Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping
  • Level 2 Functional Skills English and maths (if required)

Delivery Method

  • Attendance at college will be required one morning session per week
  • Apprenticeship session to assist with portfolio building and preparation for End Point Assessment

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C/4 or above)
  • Maths (grade C/4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
