As part of your apprenticeship and you will be trained and be under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities in this role will be:

  • To assist with cost estimation and quantity surveying tasks.
  • Support in preparing contracts, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Send quotations to third-party suppliers.
  • Take part in measurements, valuations, and site visits.

  • Someone who has a keen interest in construction and quantity surveying and a willingness to learn and develop both professionally and personally.
  • You will also need to have strong attention to detail, good numeracy skills, and a proactive attitude. with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, such as Excel and Word.

  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Training schedule

The Level 4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician apprenticeship provides training to individuals seeking to enter or advance in the quantity surveying field. This apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with academic study, leading to a nationally recognized qualification. The program focuses on developing practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional behaviours necessary for a quantity surveying technician role.
