Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Support all children throughout the school day, including lunchtimes, playtimes, and clubs, ensuring they are safe and engaged in learning.
- Assist with learning activities in the classroom, in small groups, and individually.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and their families, liaising with parents when appropriate.
- Accompany children on educational visits and school outings, taking responsibility for a group under teacher supervision.
- Support and follow the school’s behaviour policy by using praise and applying logical consequences when needed.
- Establish positive relationships with children, making sure they feel safe, valued, and happy.
- Maintain high expectations of pupil behaviour and learning.
- Be a positive role model, working with enthusiasm, care, and respect.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment, recognising and meeting individual needs.

- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan
Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant consisting of:
- Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant.
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English (if applicable).
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths (if applicable).
You will be required to attend a half-day session with HBTC where you will work towards any functional skills (where needed) that you have to take. There will also be an end point assessment.

GCSE in:
