Fiona Maynard runs a dressage and competition livery yard near Ashford, she is now looking for a new Equine Groom Apprentice to join her wonderful team.

Wage

£11,778 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Fiona Maynard Dressage is a 16 horse all outdoor stables yard, with two outdoor arenas, good hacking and plenty of outside trainers in all disciplines in regular attendance.

Plenty of riding is available for the right candidate, non riding candidates also welcome, as well as chance to groom at local and stay away shows.

As the apprentice you will be completing all general yard duties including (but not limited to):

  • Mucking out / keeping yard tidy
  • Grooming / Tacking up
  • Turning in and out
  • Filling Hay nets / water buckets
  • Feeding

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

  • All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours
  • Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

There is no accommodation available with this position, however the yard is on a bus route, please ensure you can get to the location daily before applying. Potential livery of own horse, livery costs will apply, stable subject to availability.
