Summary

My client is looking for an enthusiastic and eager individual to join their team as an Accounts Apprentice. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a keen interest in accountancy and someone who is looking to join a supportive and friendly environment.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assisting with the year-end accounts preparation for limited companies.
  • Assist with personal tax returns and requesting information from clients for this.
  • Requesting accounts information on a monthly and quarterly basis for VAT returns.
  • Assist with maintaining the company CRM system.
  • General office support to include taking phone calls and welcoming clients to the office, where required.
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices.
  • Reconciling bank accounts.
  • Preparing VAT Returns.
  • General administrative bookkeeping tasks.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan

  • Remote learning.
  • Two-hour Zoom call every Wednesday morning.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 5/B or above)
  • Maths (grade 5/B or above)

My client are a firm of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers who enjoy working with business owners to take the hassle out of their accounts and tax returns and helping them to minimise their tax liabilities. They opened their doors in 2009 and since then they have provided business owners with friendly accounting and tax compliance. They offer remote assistance with bookkeeping, VAT returns and payroll duties, plus credit control if required, to give those clients that want it a complete outsourced finance department, along with a variety of other compliance services. They are also experts on Xero for which they can offer free set-up and training, plus ongoing support, alongside offering advice for businesses looking to integrate other pieces of software to automate their administrative tasks.
