Summary

You will work as a Cyber Security Technician Apprentice for Mortgage Advice Bureau. Through the apprenticeship you will gain a range of cyber security skills, as well as several industry recognised certifications including: BCS CISMP, EC-Council C/CT, EC-Council N/DE and EC-Council E/HE

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. Working hours can be flexible, this is to be agreed upon at a later date. Hybrid working will be available (3 days in office, remainder from home).

What you'll do at work

As a Cyber Security Technician Apprentice, you will be a key part of Mortgage Advice Bureau’s Information Security Team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing and maintaining technical security software and controls.
  • Monitoring cyber security systems and responding to incidents.
  • Identifying and reporting vulnerabilities.
  • Supporting access rights, licensing, and account management.
  • Assisting with cyber security training and awareness initiatives.
  • Assist with collating data for management reports.

  • Recognise when and how to escalate information security events in accordance with relevant procedures and standards
  • Review and modify access rights to digital information systems, services, devices or data
  • Maintain an inventory of digital information systems, services, devices and data storage
  • Scopes cyber security vulnerability assessments
  • Evaluate the results of a cyber security vulnerability assessment
  • Perform routine threat intelligence gathering tasks through consulting external sources
  • Undertake digital information risk assessments
  • Identify and categorise threats, vulnerabilities and risks in preparation for response or escalation
  • Document cyber security event information whilst preserving evidence
  • Draft information management reports using standard formats appropriate to the recipients
  • Review and comment upon cyber security policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Perform cyber security compliance checks
  • Translate audit requirements and collate relevant information from log files, incident reports and other data sources
  • Communication skills to co-operate as part of a multi-functional, multi-disciplinary team using a range of technical and non-technical language to provide an effective interface between internal or external users and suppliers
  • Keep up-to-date with legislation and industry standards related to the implementation of cyber security in an organisation

Your training plan

Training will be delivered online on a weekly basis.

The location of the training (either from home or the office) will be determined by the employer.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent role within the Information Security Team or progression to a higher-level apprenticeship or further qualifications in cyber security.
