There is a shortage of childcare workers across the country, we have spent a great deal of time building a highly skilled and reliable workforce here at Lee Royd Nursery School. We are looking to upskill future childcare workers, who have an ambition to work within the Early Years.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Under the guidance of teachers and Early Years Practitioners, the apprentice will be involved in working with children to support the education, personal, social and emotional development of pupils
- Establish positive relationships to assist in structured learning activities and free play
- Duties may include, supporting learning activities, assisting in the development of skills that support pupils' learning and supporting children with additional needs
- The apprentice will assist in pupil supervision and pupil progress and development

- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade Level 2)
- Maths (grade Level 2)
