Summary

Looking to recruit an exceptional apprentice to support them through their AAT level 3. This is a varied role that will give exposure to key practice accounts areas, such as: VAT Calculations, Payroll & Self-Assessment. We offer progression to AAT4 and mentoring from the current apprentice, who has successfully completed their AAT3 with us.

Wage

£13,741 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Key responsibilities with this role will be:

  • To support the VAT team in delivering the quarterly VAT submission
  • Payroll support such as generating payslips and answering queries regarding payroll
  • Help with self-assessment submission
  • Shadowing other members of the team

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan

The apprentice will be given a day release every week. Therefore, 4 days in the office, 1 day to attend classes and complete assignments. Training will be provided by Babbington, who have trained a number of apprentices for the practice (Our current apprentice is completing her AAT Level 3 with them).

Classes are online, and the apprentice can attend them from home (the day release). A mentor will be allocated to the apprentice from the business and a tutor from the college.

Regular update meetings will take place to ensure progress throughout the course.

On successful completion of the course and contract, the apprentice will receive the AAT Level 3 qualification. And may also be offered the opportunity to progress onto AAT Level 4.

A Level or equivalent in:

Maths (grade C)

After this apprenticeship

We offer progression from AAT 3 to AAT4 based on successful completion of AAT Level 3.

On completion of AAT 4, we offer the chance to train as a chartered accountant (ICAEW) through a Level 7 Apprenticeship.
