Summary
The Finance Assistant will be a member of the Finance team, with responsibility for the execution of tasks as directed by the Management Accountant/ Senior Finance Assistant.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Key responsibilities will be, but not limited to:
- Processing purchase invoices including posting to the company’s accountancy software (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central) and dealing with suppliers as required
- Dealing with customer phone & email enquiries about billing and other matters
- Creating purchase orders
- Entering purchase invoices on the company’s accountancy software
- Updating customer and supplier records on the company’s accountancy software
- Processing and assisting with employee business expenses
- Assisting as required with various ad hoc finance projects, analysis and reporting
The role also includes general administration duties:
- Answering and directing phone calls and enquiries as required
- Handling office correspondence and mail
- Organising employee travel and accommodation & ordering office supplies and stationery

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Other requirements
Due to the nature of the role, TerraQuest is looking for someone aged 18 or above and have achieved their A-levels. Prior experience of working in an office setting is essential and prior knowledge or industry related qualifications is desired.
