Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational Apprentice Teaching Assistant to work at Lenham Primary School to work within our Reception class. You will work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher.

Wage

£12,170.60 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Monday - Friday, 08.30am – 3.20pm with ½ hr unpaid lunch break. Term-time only. 31.25 hours per week inclusive of the 20% paid training hours. Possible additional 5 days per year which will be paid in addition to the annual salary.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher
  • Help pupils to understand instructions to support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils
  • Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task
  • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
  • Prepare and clear up learning environments and resources, including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of pupils work and contribute to maintaining a safe environment
  • Record basic pupil data
  • Support children’s learning through play
  • Assist with break-time supervision including facilitating games and activities
  • assist with escorting pupils on educational visits
  • Support pupils in using basic ICT
  • Assist with pupils’ personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating, as well as help with social, welfare and health matters, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate Physically assist pupils in activities (may involve lifting, where mobility is an issue)
  • Assist with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist / teacher

About this company

Lenham Primary is school with a family feel within the village of Lenham, Kent. We have approximately 210 pupils on role. Our staff are passionate about creating great learning experiences for the pupils and providing a caring environment, in order to support the children through their time with us.
