Are you looking for a hands-on viticulture apprenticeship? Join our 16-acre vineyard in the South Downs National Park as we work to establish premium English red wine and small-batch varieties. This is your chance to gain an industry-recognised qualification and in-depth, practical experience in all aspects of vineyard operations.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Day to day tasks will vary but will include:
- Pruning
- Weed control
- Canopy management
- Crop and disease monitoring
- Harvesting
- Basic maintenance tasks
- Keeping equipment clean and tidy
- Assisting with spraying and mowing
- Assisting with cover crop, soil cultivation and regeneration

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Your training plan
Training will occur in 10 weekly blocks of teaching split between the Plumpton College main campus and the College’s Rock Lodge Vineyard.
The block attended shall be for a full 5 day a week, with class sessions over 5 separate weeks.
The course with be conducted at Plumpton College.

GCSE in:

- Maths (grade 4)

Selden Farm is located in a rural location, so having your own transport is highly recommended.

Selden Farm is a small, family-owned farm of 65 acres in the South Downs National Park at Patching, West Sussex, 4 miles from the sea and includes grazing and woodland. We are developing diverse income streams from our vineyard, crops, livestock as well as camping and more projects to come in the future.
