Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as an AAT Level 2 Apprentice Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin their career in finance while gaining hands-on experience within a dynamic and supportive construction environment.

Wage

£14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Process and log purchase and sales invoices using accounting software
  • Assist with credit control by contacting clients and monitoring overdue accounts
  • Help with journal preparation and month-end data entry
  • Reconcile supplier statements and assist with payment runs
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
  • Prepare internal reports and client documentation as required
  • Provide support with payroll and employee expense processing
  • Liaise with site teams and admin staff to ensure accurate financial documentation
  • Handle sensitive financial data confidentially and professionally

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C/4 or above)
  • Maths (grade C/4 or above)
