Summary

The role offers valuable on-the-job experience, complemented by a dedicated 1 day a week training, while working towards AAT qualifications. The post holder will become part of a team responsible for key financial functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable (for commercial activity only), and General Ledger functions.

£23,028 a year

Whilst the post holder is doing the level 3 qualification and training the post will be at grade 3, with the intention that once the post holder has obtained the level 3 apprenticeship and is fully competent in the role they will move to grade 4.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Scanning and registering supplier invoices
  • Carrying out daily reconciliation of the ledger for investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Ensuring that outstanding tasks are monitored regularly and liaising with users to follow up any queries to ensure the tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Preparing data uploads for scheduled payments for example, to schools etc.
  • Be proactive with routine house-keeping tasks relating to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & General Ledger
  • Monitoring and maintenance of active purchase orders.
  • Dealing with queries from staff, suppliers and customers on a range of financial issues in a promptly and professionally
  • General office duties

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

● GCSE Mathematics (grade (minimum Grade 4 or A-C))

Desirable qualifications

Other in:

AAT Level 2 (grade or willingness to obtain)
