Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable person to join our practice. Your role will focus on gaining practical experience in the office while undertaking study to learn the theory. The role is initially as assistant to our experienced team of staff and will assume more responsibility as you gain more experience.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will work with our teams across all departments to learn the wide range of services we offer.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Recording sales, purchases and bank transactions in clients’ records
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Completing tax returns
  • Communicating with clients
  • Day-to-day administration
  • Use of accounting and other software

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2.

Training will be delivered through Inspire Education Group at Peterborough College.

The apprentice will be required to attend college one day a week.

This flexible apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with regular sessions with a college tutor.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
  • Minimum of 6 (grade 4-9)

Other requirements

A Level 3 apprenticeship would be considered if the applicant has already completed the Level 2 qualification or can show the required skills and knowledge to start at a Level 3 which would be determined through an assessment.

After this apprenticeship

On the successful completion of each level of AAT, we will continue your training to the next level, all the way through to Level 3 and 4.  

Further training with ACCA is available, either through an advanced apprenticeship or directly, after completion of your AAT qualifications.
