An exciting opportunity has become available for a Learning Support Apprentice to join the friendly and professional team at Nerrols Primary School. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate person to join our team and play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of our fantastic children.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Under the direction of the class teacher & SENDCo:
- Supporting children's learning in the classroom by working one-on-one or with small groups
- Ensuring that the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including social communication needs and social and emotional needs, are met
- Supporting specific children in both academic and social areas, following an agreed strategy
- Supporting all children’s social and emotional development and ensuring their safety at all times
- Provide a warm, welcoming, enriching enrivonment to support children's learning and play
- Attending weekly Learning Support Assistant (LSA) meetings during school hours
- Commitment to an inclusive provision and ensuring every child reaches their potential
- Promoting and complying with the school’s policies and procedures
- Undertaking training as required
Supporting at lunch and break time with duties to include:
- Assisting in the lunch hall with pupils' mealtimes and lunch hall orderliness
- Supervising the playground and promoting safe and structured play
- Reporting to designated first aider in the event of injuries

- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan
As well as on the job training you will attend Richard Huish College for one day per fortnight and work towards the following:
- Teaching Assistant Level 3 Standard qualification
- Functional Skills in maths, ICT and English (if applicable)

Desirable qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade C/4)
- Maths (grade C/4)
