What you will do in your working day

• Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect
• Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions
• Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils
• Be accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes
• Plan teaching to build on pupils’ capabilities and prior knowledge
• Guide pupils to reflect on the progress they have made and their emerging needs
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn and how this impacts on teaching
• Encourage pupils to take responsibility and conscientious attitude to their own work and study
• Have a secure knowledge of the relevant subject(s) and curriculum areas, foster and maintain pupils’ interest in the subject, and address misunderstandings
• Demonstrate a critical understanding of developments in the subject and curriculum areas
• Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and the correct use of standard English, whatever the teacher’s specialist subject
• Plan and teach well-structured lessons in accordance with the school’s teaching and learning policy
• Impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time
• Promote a love of learning and children’s intellectual curiosity
• Set homework and plan other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding pupils have acquired

The training you will be getting

Apprentices will undertake the level 6 teacher apprenticeship programme delivered by Staffordshire University.

Teaching will be a mix of on the job and off the job training delivered face to face in university and online sessions each week. The programme is delivered using a blended learning model.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices will achieve their level 6 teacher apprenticeship and gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

• Fast-track on to the Painsley Leadership Pathway in one of the MAC schools on successful completion of the ECF
• Potential to progress onto leadership roles/promotions within 2 years of completing the apprenticeship within the Trust
• Opportunity for a full time role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship
