What you will do in your working day
What will the apprentice be doing? Wall and Floor Tilers operate in domestic and commercial properties undertaking all types of wall and floor tiling. The is varied work; tilers utilise and install a wide range of ceramic and natural stone tiles using different techniques. While all apprenticeships contain a fair amount of labouring, tidying of the work area, and tool fetching, tiling apprentices will also progress into the below tasks throughout their apprenticeship. • Working out how many tiles and how much adhesive you’ll need for a particular area • Cutting tiles to a certain size or shape with hand-cutters or bench-mounted tools • Preparing surfaces by levelling off with plaster, sand, or cement • Decorating and protecting floors and walls using all kinds of tiles (including ceramic, clay, slate, marble, and glass) • Fixing the tiles and applying grout before finishing off What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? The qualification you would be working to is the Level 2 Wall & Floor Tiling Apprenticeship (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with a training provider to provide the training. This training will either be through remote learning or attending college, with a paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 day per week. You are expected to travel when necessary and you will be responsible for managing/arranging with your line manager.

Level 2 Wall & Floor Tiling Qualification.
Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Junior Tiler where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior tiling position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or business owner. You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification.
