The main components of the role are to assist with collection management, to provide library administration support and to provide support as appropriate with library projects and related KM initiatives.

What you will do in your working day

  • Assist with delivery of the Library Enquiry Service particularly for hard copy and journal article requests.
    Answering enquiries relating to:
  • Press Searches – identifying relevant press articles based on search criteria.
  • Document delivery – supply of case law, legislation and journal articles when correct citations are provided.
  • Assist with creation and management of group and individual current awareness alerts, covering press and journal resources.
  • Management of our specialist current awareness systems in conjunction with Senior Legal Research
    Specialist and Information Specialist.
  • Keeping the library catalogue up to date and ensuring that items and locations are properly recorded.
  • Management of old and new library stock – making sure that all out of date material is removed from circulation or labelled accordingly.
  • Processing of invoices for online and hardcopy resources.
  • Liaison with external trainers – organise training sessions either within our offices, or online or telephone, as required.
  • Creation of LIS training materials i.e. online guides, videos etc
  • The deployment of new and amended library resources, including training. 
  • LIS pages on the intranet – maintenance and ongoing development of the main library page and sub-pages. Ensuring that all links are live and correct, and that all content is accessible.
  • Work with our Knowledge Lawyers to produce and maintain practice area resource guides. 
  • Delivery of ad hoc library projects working with other members of the library team and Head of Knowledge Management.
