Foundations is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, ethical, hard-working and flexible, as well as being able to use their initiative. The successful candidate will be required to work effectively as a team player as well as independently and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What you will do in your working day
Archaeological fieldwork, under appropriate supervision. Undertaking various duties, including:

Travel to and from sites. If required, short, medium and long term stay-away

Archaeological duties commensurate with level of experience/ability
- Archaeological surveying, both manual and digital
- Archaeological cleaning, excavation, interpretation and recording
- General site duties, such as erecting safety fencing, moving samples, making good etc.
Post-fieldwork duties, including:
- Finds processing, including washing, collation, quantification, marking and packaging
- Archaeological post-excavation work including digitising, illustration, data analysis/input, limited report writing and research
The training you will be getting
Archaeological Technician Apprenticeship Level 3
- Much of your training will take place at the employer’s offices in Swindon, with occasional additional training taking place at Cirencester College
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Following the completion of the apprenticeship, if a position is available you will be offered a full time position as an archaeologist. If the candidate is interested in joining CIfA, we would help progress them to PCIfA level (average duration for the successful completion of this course is three months).
