    Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 5.00pm, shifts, may work weekends. (40 hours per week: April and October. 45 hours per week: May until September. 35 hours per week: November until March. Weekend work 3-4 hours overtime 1 in 3.

What you will do in your working day

The job will consist in:

  • Daily set up of the Golf Course
  • Raking bunkers
  • Use of power tools such as blowers and strimmers
  • Divoting tees and fairways
  • Trim sprinklers
  • Maintenance of paths (weeding and edging)

After receiving the appropriate training, the apprentice will be able to use ride on mowers, pedestrian mowers, buggies, top dressers, and aerators.

When required by the Course Manager, the Apprentice Greenkeeper can help the gardeners in their tasks such as:

  • Cutting lawn
  • Edging
  • Blowing/strimming

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Golf Greenkeeper Qualification
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths
  • One day a week for theory and practical at Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA)

  • Tournament experience depending on the individual
  • Be able to work on other sports facilities like football, rugby or cricket pitches
