What you will do in your working day
- During your first year as an apprentice, you will spend two days per week in college and the remainder of your week will be spent working alongside our experienced engineers at our head office in Bristol. In this first year you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of engineering whilst gaining the practical experience which will support that learning.
- You will learn how to build, install commission and maintain electric overhead hoists and cranes. Gain mechanical experience of motors gearboxes and drive systems, and, how to build connect and fault diagnose electrical systems for motor control including variable speed drives and weighing systems and a large variety of electrical equipment up to 400V 3 phase.
- Once you have gained a good grounding in engineering and the principles of Crane Engineering, it is likely that you will accompany more experienced engineers to customer sites where you will support them with installations, inspections and maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
