The Engineering Manufacturing Apprentice will take the lead on improvements to manufacturing activities. Using a project framework they will utilise continuous improvement tools, fault finding techniques and statistical analysis models to improve the efficiency, health and safety, environmental impact of our manufacturing operations.

What you will do in your working day

  • Leading continuous improvement projects in all manufacturing areas, focusing on OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness – Availability, Output, Quality), Health & Safety and Environmental Impact
  • Operate and maintain polymer extrusion equipment
  • Operate and maintain polymer compounding equipment
  • Operate and maintain composite compression moulding equipment
  • Approve fabrication technical drawings for manufacture and advise Technical team on optimal product configuration
  • Develop improved methods for producing hand fabricated products
  • Involved in the production of product samples for routine testing for external audits (BBA, WRc, BSI)
  • Introduction of automation into all manufacturing processes on site
  • Contribute to improving the health and safety of the site
  • Visit other manufacturing sites within the group (Genuit Group) and bring best practise examples back to Loughborough site
  • Lead Operation Cleansweep initiative
  • Training on overhead travelling cranes and fork lift trucks

Position may require occasional travel to other sites within the wider business group. Driving license advantageous although not mandatory. Additional training to take place at Loughborough College to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours in accordance to this Apprenticeship. Please ensure you are able to travel before applying.
