What you will do in your working day
Avantor has an excellent opportunity to join our site in Macclesfield. Your work location is one of our major customer’s sites. The environmental specialists in the EML provide scientific and technical services to the Macclesfield campus SHE group. Full training will be provided on tasks including:
- Water quality - Analysing daily effluent samples on a weekly basis and incident response.
- Testing of breathing air quality at points across the customer site and perform environmental noise surveys as required.
- Checking of data generated from analysis of Industrial Hygiene (IH) samples, trade effluent, reports.
- Equipment management
- Analyse swabs and filters from IH campaigns using validated methods or manage the use of suitably qualified external laboratories for analysis etc.
The training you will be getting
As part of your training, you will be required to complete a three-year Level 5 Technician Scientist Apprenticeship course, leading to a BTEC Level 5 HND in Applied Science (Chemistry pathway)
Most of the learning will take place online one day per week, with some practical elements taking place in Sutton Coldfield throughout the duration of the 3-year apprenticeship.
Upon successful completion, apprentices can apply for professional registration as a Registered Scientist, RSci, with the Royal Society of Chemistry
