What you will do in your working day

As a Nursery we can offer the successful apprentice:

Responsibilities:

  • Care for children ages 0-5
  • Assist with mealtimes
  • Sing songs, read stories, supervise activities
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Liaise with parents and carers
  • Encourage the children’s social, emotional and physical development
  • Assist with personal care such as nappies / change of clothing
  • Follow all guidance including covid restrictions
  • Make and record observations

Desired skills / qualities:

  • Full and clear background check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Some experience of children aged 5 months to 5 years
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking
  • Have and sustain a good level of attendance
  • Good understanding and use of spoken and written English

The training you will be getting

  • You will gain the Level 2 Early years practicioner qualification. This will be assessor led with regular visits / assessments within the workplace.
  • Training will include paediatric first aid qualification.
  • Functional skills in maths and English (if required).

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • After completion of the apprenticeship you will have discussions to progress to the next level.
