Apprentice required to gain both practical and technical skills in the Smoke Ventilation industry, working alongside experienced professionals in order to become a fully qualified electrical engineer. You will assist in installing all factored goods (controls, actuators, switches and sensors).

What you will do in your working day

Usual day to day duties may include:

  • Arrange time/location to be picked up for site visits
  • Liaise with mentor and office staff for job pack for specified location/time
  • Assist with what tasks will be completed that day
  • Load out site with required materials for the day
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Ensure all work completed is to high company and industry standards
  • Ensure all paperwork and correspondence is completed in a timely manner
  • You will be required to work at height, when necessary

The training you will be getting

  • The qualification you will recieve is a Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship Qualififcation, delivered over a period of 2 years
  • Training will be 2 days per week at the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, and 3 days per week at the company for the first year, followed by monthly assessor visits for the remainder of the training

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Full time position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship as qualified engineer with a salary of £25,000 minimum
  • Between 3 and 5 years of service there could be potential promotion to Senior Engineer, earning £35,000 per year

GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade 5 and above) Essential

Things to consider

Candidates need to be aged 18 minimum by the time the training starts, in order to be allowed to work at customer sites. Driving license is required - or test booked in readiness to start Physically fit - annual health surveillances are carried out Able to work at heights (under supervision) Preferably someone with an interest in engineering / electrical exposure as a hobby, or a part-time job Training will include full AM2 (fully qualified electrician)
