What you will do in your working day

  • Produce components / tooling using a range of manual machines safely and to the required quality and within reasonable time scales.
  • Read drawings and measure components to the drawing tolerances using various measuring kit.
  • Finish basic components on both surface & cylindrical grinding machines safely and to the required quality and within reasonable time scales.
  • Grinding components to tight tolerances.
  • Selecting grinding wheels and balancing wheels dependant on material.
  • Inspecting components using Taylor Hobson Instruments and various other techniques.
  • Using modern etchers and printers.
