What you will do in your working day

  • Filtering, monitoring and firewall management
  • Server administration
  • Web administration
  • Installation of new software
  • Installation of new workstations and peripherals on curriculum and administration systems including email and internet access
  • Management of the ICT network
  • Carry out repairs as necessary
  • Ordering and accounting of consumables in line with school procedures
  • Allocation of new users
  • Removal of former users
  • Logging problems and liaising with suppliers and support agencies
  • Tracing abuse and misuse of all hardware & software
  • Installation and maintenance of stand-along machines
  • Maintenance of an efficient booking system for resources and rooms
  • Co-ordinating repair fault finding and maintenance of all systems
  • Security policies
  • Backup strategy
  • Virus protection, audio/visual strategy and threat management and GDPR
  • Ensure that the relevant Health and Safety procedures are carried out in relation to ICT
  • Maintain and develop security in relation to ICT e.g. back up and virus protection and have strategy in place to avoid problems
  • Maintain register of licence agreements and copy site licence programmes as required
  • In liaison with office staff maintain inventory of ICT equipment
  • Where appropriate maintain the school and trust websites in liaison with school and trust staff
  • To liaise with the ICT Lead and teaching staff in identifying, evaluating learning resources for use in the implementation of the
  • National Curriculum both for ICT and across the curriculum
  • To support children in developing their skills in ICT
  • To promote the use and understanding of ICT within the school with staff, children and parents
  • To lead training for school staff
  • To liaise with outside contractors as required
  • To obtain quotes in liaison with business manager(s) for best value in ICT equipment
  • To plan and organise new hardware and software to keep the MAT at the forefront of technology, thus enabling ICT to be an essential part of a pupils’ development
  • Undertaking research and training to ensure that knowledge is current
  • To attend any appropriate agreed training
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties that may fall under the requirements of ICT developments

End-Point Assessment (EPA)

  • End-point assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an apprentice goes through to complete their Apprenticeship.
  • The Apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the grades available are distinction, pass or fail.
  • The EPA will include: Project with Questionnaire & Portfolio Interview.

Delivery Method

  • Our delivery model includes a 1 day per week college attendance on a Friday for training and development of skills, knowledge and behaviours and 1:1 support from your trainer assessor in the workplace and will include assignments, work-based company projects and self-study.
  • Average duration is 24 months.
