What you will do in your working day
Please apply ASAP rather than waiting for the vacancy to close. We are looking for someone to start employment ASAP once found the right candidate. You may start college day release after Easter or depending on when you start employment you could start college in September.
Working on domestic and commercial properties where the successful applicant will work internally or externally as part of an experienced team to provide Painting and Decorating services in keeping with each client’s individual specification and requirements this would include
Responsibilities and Duties
- Learning all aspects of painting and decorating whilst working on domestic and commercial projects
- Be totally committed to achieving a high level of customer satisfaction through the quality of the end result
- Increasing your skills and knowledge of different materials, tools and techniques throughout duration of the apprenticeship and ensuring their use in a safe and professional manner as part of a safe working environment to ensure you are not a risk to yourself, colleagues or members of the public
- Assisting colleagues to ensure timely and quality project outcomes
- Ensuring at all times that the project is carried out and maintained with the utmost care, tidiness and housekeeping and ultimate respect for the client’s property and projects vision
- Tools equipment and resources are vital to successful outcomes and as such should be respected, maintained, cleaned and stored as requested.
Skills required:
- Good attention to detail
- Able to follow clearly given instructions
- Will need to liaise and interact with a wide range of people including with other team colleagues, other trades people and occasionally with clients, so good communication skills are an essential as are being professional in outlook and behaviour
- Ability to reflect on own personal performance and learn from all experiences and as a result learn when you can use your own initiative
The training you will be getting
- Level 2 Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship Standard
- Functional Skills in English &/or maths up to Level 2 if not already have a level 2 or GCSE grade C/4 in both subjects
- Day release at Basford Hall College one day per week during term time only
- As described earlier depending on your employment start date this could be after Easter or could be a September start at college. You can still start employment earlier than September though - as soon as agreed with the employer
- The successful candidate may be able to infil into the existing day release group or otherwise it will be for a September start at college
