    £14,650.00

    Competitive wage package commensurate with performance. Paid holidays. Pension scheme for employees aged 21 and over. Scope for training and progression within the business.

  • Working week

    Basic week of 08:00 - 16:30 on site, Monday - Friday, though this can vary when necessary. Overtime when necessary (Age 18+ only).

What you will do in your working day

Under the instruction of experienced stonemasons, you will become proficient in relevant skills, including: 

  • Construction and repair of stone structures e.g. walls, floors, monuments
  • Setting out using measuring and marking tools
  • Dressing stones using hand tools and power tools
  • The mixing and use of appropriate mortars
  • Stone fixing
  • Repairing and replacing damaged stones in existing structures.
  • Reading drawings
  • Working in compliance with health and safety requirements

You will attend York College on a block placement basis and achieve your Level 2 Stonemasonry qualification by the end of a 2-year apprenticeship.

The training you will be getting

  • You will work towards the Level 2 Stonemason Apprenticeship Standard qualification with on the job training within the business and block release to York College
  • If you do not have GCSE (or equivalent) English and maths at Grade 3/D or above you will be required to work towards Functional Skills in these subjects

You will have the means to travel to our yard near Penrith or a convenient collection point. You must be happy working at height and outdoors.
