What you will do in your working day

1. Work with the Machining Technical team to produce high quality machined parts for industrial and infrastructure purposes from 2 and 3D drawings.
2. You will learn how to programme and machine parts.
3. Produce component parts.
3. Work safely and follow Factory Rules. 
4. Cooperate with Management in attaining skills and enhance the company’s reputation. 
5. Complete course modules and endeavour to attain key skills set out to the best of their ability.


You will attend West Notts College for day release, one day per week during term times. This will be at WNC's Engineering Centre in Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 5FA.

Under the guidance of a mentor you will manufacture fabrications including; cutting and shaping steel parts to drawing, prepping for welds, assembling fabricated components, welding and finishing.

The training you will be getting

Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering campus, NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.
You will experience a blended learning model.
You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
