We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer apprentice who will be trained in the repair of the company’s machines both mechanically and electrically. You will also be trained to complete a variety of repair tasks around the factory to the site and associated plant & equipment as required.

What you will do in your working day

Your first year will be spent in our in-house training school learning basic machine and hand fitting skills as well as Inspection techniques and basic maintenance skills.

You will then progress onto the shop floor to complete your Level 3 in the Maintenance department reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Tasks include:

  • Completing Daily checks
  • Complete Running repairs on machines.
  • Complete planned maintenance on machines
  • Problem solving
  • Complete general repairs to all areas of the factory as required.
  • You will complete your College Course units on a Day release basis.

The training you will be getting

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence.

You will be expected to work towards the Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician qualification, with support from your
employer and the Chesterfield College Group.

As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English
Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Our apprentices progress onto all areas of the company and will have the opportunity to undertake a HNC upon successful completion of their level 3 qualifications with merit and distinction grades.

Candidates with Grade 4 English and Maths will be considered for a position if a good Engineering based background is shown.
