What you will do in your working day
The main purpose of this post is to assist with administrative tasks within your specific department to enable the smooth running of day to day operations. You will learn to provide support in a wide range of specialist and/or generalist administration areas, depending on the department you work with.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual who wants to gain a broad range of administration skills with the ability to work at a fast pace within a successful team.
You will learn to carry out a range of main duties depending on the department you work for. These may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide general administrative support to the department
- Undertake general administration and other operational activities
- Respond to telephone, email, and in-person enquiries in a helpful and professional manner
- Gain experience in dealing with incoming correspondence, emails, etc, processing and drafting responses as required
- Gain experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
- Contribute to the successful completion of a variety of projects
- Develop team-working skills and the ability to manage a wide and varied set of tasks
- Gain an understanding of the University policies and procedures relevant to the role
- Prepare reports, documentation and maintain up-to-date records
- Participate in and support public engagement activities of the department
Whichever department you choose to be considered for (on successful completion of our initial screening process) you will find that you are supported and inspired to succeed within your role.
Please note that departments are in a variety of locations across the city of Oxford.
The training you will be getting
Duration:
- 15 months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment
Delivery model:
- Work-based training with your employer
- 10 days Business Professionals training at college
- Approximately 12 on-site assessment visits per year
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (7 days at college for each, if required)
- Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours per week of an apprentice’s time at work
Qualifications included:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)
- Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard
End Point Assessment:
- Knowledge test
- Portfolio based interview
- Project/improvement presentation
