An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a full-time apprentice arborist with WOODCHIPS Tree Surgery, Bracknell, working at various sites with a team of dedicated tree surgeons. This role will include a variety of tasks, including, ground work, climbing, felling, pruning, operating chainsaws, woodchippers, and stump grinders.

    Monday-Friday 7.30am – 3.30pm. 40 hours a week, but includes breaks. Occasionally working overtime. Very occasionally working on Saturdays, overtime rates apply.

What you will do in your working day

Tasks including:

Initially training on groundwork which will include:

  • Ground clearance, including removal of logs and other waste
  • Feeding waste into a woodchipper
  • Handling a chainsaw

Training given on all aspects

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Arborist Apprenticeship
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and math is required
  • One day a week for theory and practical in Berkshire College of Agriculture Campus

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Tree Surgeon
  • Team supervisor and once more experience is gained could apply for Level 4 Arboriculturist.

Things to consider

Will be working outside in all weathers. MUST be physically fit, strong, as will need to move heavy logs etc. MUST have a good head for heights. Transport to various working sites using one of the company vehicles.

Tree Surgery is a local business with over 15 years’ worth of experience. As professional Tree Surgeons, Woodchips are able to carry out all types of arboriculture work including tree reduction and reshaping, crown work, tree felling, hedge trimming and felling, and stump grinding. Woodchips operates within a fifteen-mile radius of Bracknell covering principally East Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire. Woodchips aim to maintain a balance between the public’s needs and the environment and work alongside local councils to achieve this. All green waste recycled. Woodchips is active in the community, providing free chippings to worthwhile causes.
