    On successful completion of each year the pay structure will be as follows; Year 1 - £7.98/hr, Year 2 - £8.91/hr, Year 3 - £10.48/hr, Level 3 qualification completed - £12/hr The above rates will be subject to potential increases

What you will do in your working day

The aim of the apprenticeship program with Manthorpe Engineering is to train people to become skilled fabricators within their chosen field who can then build a successful career within the company. To achieve this the apprentice will be paired with an experienced fabricator who will ensure their skills and knowledge are developed alongside their college based training.

This process will involve on the job training and will include;

Shadowing and working alongside an experienced member of the Fabrication team to learn processes such as;

  • Marking Out
  • Cutting, Grinding
  • Drilling
  • Tack Welding
  • MIG Welding

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills in maths and English if required.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering campus, NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.
  • You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.
  • You will experience a blended learning model.
  • You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
  • At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On completion of the apprenticeship it is expected that the qualified apprentice will be a compentent fabricator within their chosen discipline (Plater and/or Welder).

We have a graded pay scale to reward further progression reflecting skills and experience. The business also has a track record of apprentices progressing to roles other than machining (i.e. manufacturing engineering, sales, etc) as opportunities arise.
