What you will do in your working day

Your day-to-day tasks will be:

  • Picking & packing of materials/finished products
  • Fitting of glazing bead, gasket, EPDM
  • Application of protective material to Metal
  • Working along side skilled fabricators to learn the processes involved in the fabrication of windows doors and curtain walling
  • Crimping/ Mechanically fixing metal profiles
  • Gearing of windows/doors
  • Operating a variety of machinery to aid in fabrication, CNC, Punches, End miller ETC

The training you will be getting

The apprenticeship in Fenestration consists of:

  • Intermediate Standard Apprenticeship-Fenestration Fabricator
  • Functional Skills in English and maths (Level 1/2) where applicable

All aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with your employer, and you will have regular site visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.

You will achieve a qualification in Fenestration Fabricator Level 2 Standard.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On completion of the level 2 Fenestration qualification, providing you show the correct skills and abilities, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a full-time position and possibly a level 3 apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Please be aware we work outside as well as inside on our jobs as they demand, as such you may be out in the cold for long periods of time. The work can also be physically quite demanding so please consider this before applying.

At Precision Fabrications Andover we offer bespoke metal pressings and curtain wall, door & window fabrication service for all aspects of cladding and glazing works. This include cills, reveals, folded and flat panels, bespoke brackets, and general pressings, all for use on building facades. With the company continuing to move forward in a fast-paced direction and growing with new projects, developments and investment in new machinery, helping us take on new larger commercial projects.
