The candidate will be fully trained in all aspects of print preparation, print production, signage manufacture and installation. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and practically minded individual to become a key member of the Dock Street Signs team.

What you will do in your working day
The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team and individually, be comfortable using hand tools (tape measure, laser level, vinyl tools, drills etc.) and be comfortable talking to clients.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Using Onyx to prepare and print files on sign media
- Laminate vinyl using roll-to-roll laminator
- Trim and weed vinyl where necessary
- Mount vinyl onto Foamex/ACM/Acrylic
- Quality control and packing jobs for despatch and installation
- Survey client sites for sign requirements and sizes
- Installation of small signs and vinyl as a one-person team
- Assist in bigger signage installations as part of a two-person team
The training you will be getting
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded a Level 3 Signage Technician apprenticeship standard.
The apprentice will be given sufficient time to complete the ‘off-the-job’ requirement of the apprenticeship during their normal working hours.
Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Dock Street Signs and BPIF Training. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available.
Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your own development and the business needs. Most training and studying will be a combination of site-based and remote delivery.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- The aim is for the individual to become a permanent member of the Dock Street Signs team after the apprenticeship has been completed, with a view to then working towards managing the production room and/or the installation offering
