What will the apprentice be doing?

This will be a varied role, giving the individual an opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of construction initially within the Estimating and Commercial team, in order to develop a good product and technical background as well as develop their commercial acumen.

We will provide all the necessary training and support to help develop them, with ongoing continuous professional development through in house and external training.

Duties will include:

  • Liaise with the Preconstruction manager, commercial and operations team to assist in taking a project from tender stage to contract
  • Logging tenders on ensuring that specification and programme information is noted
  • Ensure all the latest relevant documentation including drawings, specifications and scope is downloaded from client web portals, saved to the project folder electronically and printed relevant documents as required
  • Creating drawing registers specifically to the project
  • Produce working folders for estimators and ensure the filing system is up to date
  • Assist estimators with take-off and measures from drawings using estimating software
  • Assist with updating and maintaining companies estimating software database
  • Assist with gaining quotes for materials from suppliers and filling accordingly
  • Assist with preparing quotations for projects
  • Assist with company’s social media postings

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Candidate will recieve a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard upon succesful completion of the apprenticeship
  • Day release at New City College Hackney (N1 6HQ) or Ardleigh Green Campus (RM11 2LL)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Later, there will be opportunities to progress within the team as an Apprentice Estimator or within other areas of the business including Pre-Construction, Engineering, Operations or Commercial
