  • Support the specific needs of specified pupils – physical, emotional and/or behavioural
  • Where necessary and under the direction of the teacher, act as an escort on and off school premises, this may include situations where the teacher is not in the immediate vicinity or immediate sight and in accordance with the School Visits Policy
  • Prepare materials of the quality and quantity specified by the teacher
  • Help pupils to select equipment and materials relevant to their learning tasks and to use these safely and correctly
  • Support the work of teachers and teaching assistants in training
  • Obtain the information needed and update individual pupil records at agreed time intervals,  reporting any difficulties in maintaining these records to the teacher
  • Provide praise and encouragement to pupils to recognise and promote positive pupil behaviour in accordance with school behaviour and discipline policies
  • Support behaviour management at the beginning and end of lessons and during transfer around to the school
  • Where necessary, correct behaviour to maintain order and discipline
