What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Bookkeeping: The role requires bookkeeping skills to process a portfolio of our outsourced bookkeeping contracts. These mainly use Xero software but Sage and QuickBooks may also be used. Solid double-entry knowledge will be acquired, along with the ability to complete monthly accounts to Trial Balance
  • Tax & Accounts: Compiling records for the completion of YE accounts & tax returns, assisting with completing returns and communicating with clients for data collection and sign-off of various documents
  • Compliance: You will be trained to maintain and update client records on our practice management software as well as ID verification and AML compliance
  • Financial administration: Assistance with day-to-day financial administration both internal and on behalf of clients

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Working towards completing Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. Attendance at Hertford Regional College one day per week to achieve AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There will be opportunities for progression and a permanent position subject to performance.

We are a friendly local accountancy practice based just off St Peter’s Street in the town centre of St Albans. We have 7 team members plus an office dog called Coco. Our offices are modern and open plan although located in a 16th century building. Our team is personable and engaging with many social activities.
