What you will do in your working day
- General housekeeping e.g. cooking, shopping, domestic duties etc, and helping customers to maintain all aspects of their domestic lives.
- Providing help with aspects of personal care.
- Assisting customers in the administration of medication if required.
- Facilitating socialisation and participation in community activities.
- Monitoring and recording of achievement of goals and outcomes on customer support notes.
- Liaising with customers, families, friends, advocates, external agencies and the management team to provide a consistent approach that meets the individual needs of each customer.
- Supporting customers when raising issues or complaints.
- Signposting customers to relevant agencies/organisations.
- Empathising and actively listening in a sensitive manner accessing appropriate additional support where necessary.
- Supporting customers to access appropriate health care provision enabling them to make an informed choice regarding any prescribed treatment, seeking advice where necessary.
- Creating opportunities for customers to develop, establish and maintain personal relationships and social networks, which encourage greater participation and integration in their chosen communities.
The training you will be getting
- Lead adult care worker (level 3) apprenticeship standard
- Equivalent to A level
- Typical duration 18 months
- Training will take place at Furness College
- Training will be 1 day per week (during term time)
- This could also include attending meetings, attending internal training, coaching and mentoring
- Apprentices will be given the opportunity to join Oaklea as a permanent employee following completion of the qualification
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- A permanent position of Lifestyle Co-ordinator to be offered on completion of apprenticeship
- Oaklea will support the candidate onto a (fully funded) Level 3 Health and Social Care diploma
