What will the apprentice be doing?

BASIC JOB PURPOSE

To deal with telephone calls and general post, to ensure a professional and efficient service is provided by the administration team.

To undertake, and carry out, work to a high and safe standard to contribute to the smooth and safe running of administration functions.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Work as part of the admin team to take supervision in the form of receiving instructions, training, guiding to ensure that a quality administration service is provided.


Undertake reception duties, including answering the telephone, dealing with visitors, parent and student enquiries, ensuring that safety and security is maintained.

Deal with basic administrative duties, such as photocopying, post distribution, mailings to parents, hospitality and other general office duties.

Arrange and monitor stationery orders.

 
Deal with enquiries from students and staff, taking messages and ensuring that messages from parents and colleagues are communicated in a timely manner.

To use all the equipment and machinery safely and efficiently after instruction.

To report to the Administration Manager, any problems that may arise from customer dissatisfaction.

To be available, if required, for emergency mailings, short notice communications to parents and staff. 
 

Other Specific Duties:

To continue personal professional development as required.

Attend staff and other meetings and participate in staff training and development events as required.

To actively engage in the performance review process. 

All support staff may be used to perform appropriate duties as and when required by the academy, commensurate with the salary grade of that post if it is higher than the employee’s current salary.

To work in the best interests of the academy, students, parents and staff.

To adhere to the academy’s policies and procedures with particular reference to Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, Teaching and Learning and Health and Safety.

To work flexibly, including some evening work, and to travel, as required, to meet the needs of the role.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As a Business Administration Apprentice, you will complete the following qualifications as part of your apprenticeship:

Level 3 Business Administrator Standard Apprenticeship
Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English if not already achieved
You will also develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work within an office environment
This apprenticeship is delivered in the workplace and 20% of your working time will be dedicated towards training and learning new skills. You will be allocated a tutor who will provide you with personal support and assessment at pre-arranged times
Assessment is through a variety of methods including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence and professional discussions. All evidence will be logged to your electronic portfolio
